Steinbach Tractor Trek of 2012

The Steinbach Tractor Trek of 2012 will be remembered as an eventful day. June 9th started out sunny and warm with more than 50 tractors showing up at the Mennonite Heritage Village

The intent was to enjoy a nice sunny ride to La Broquerie. The weather took a bit of a turn, the wind picked up and not long after it started to rain. It didn’t take long and everyone was looking for a spot to sit out the down-pour.

Even with these circumstances, it can be reported that the Steinbach Tractor Trek was a splashing success. There were only a few who decided that was it for the day. Everyone else showed up at the destination, the sun came out and the smiles returned.

Part of the fun is acknowledging those who have raised the most funds in their sponsorship efforts, or having the oldest tractor or the youngest driver.

This year the dirtiest driver award was added to the list of acknowledgements.

It was a record year not only for the number of tractors registered but also for the fact that in total, the donations as a result of this event was the best it’s been to date. Proceeds will be shared equally between Eden Health Care Services and Mennonite Heritage Village.

Thanks to all those who made this events such an enjoyable experience by their diligent work and thanks to all those who took part in the this abbreviated ride and to all those who sponsored the drivers, making it possible for both Mennonite Heritage Village and Eden Health Care Services to provide the services that the community has called them to.
