Concordia IV

This is what the vision is for the new building known as Concordia IV is going to look like.  It will blend in seamlessly with the adjacent buildings in the Concordia Village in the northeast of Winnipeg.

The new apartment building will be constructed near Molson Street and Kimberly Avenue on a vacant portion of the Concordia Village campus. Concordia Village, a project of Concordia Wellness Projects Incorporated, is an assisted living housing facility for seniors.
This project brings together a unique partnership between Manitoba Housing, Concordia Wellness Projects and Eden Health Care Services. As Glen Klassen, Eden’s chair of the housing initiative notes, “It is gratifying to live in a society where social projects are initiated and supported by several levels of government in cooperation with non-governmental, faith-based, groups such as Eden.”
The federal government has provided $ 5,700,000 for the project with Manitoba Housing providing the remainder. The total cost of the apartment complex is $ 11,900,000. Eden will be investing in amenities in the common areas to add value to the community building aspect of the apartment.
The staffing component of the building will keep in mind all aspects of special needs of the tenants, providing a positive integrated community.  Concordia IV is based on an integrated model already proven successful in other Eden Housing projects in Winkler and Steinbach.

Eden has set a goal of $1,000,000 over the next three years, which is intended to add amenities and added value components.  Eden is soliciting funding and the support of the community in this exciting and expanding opportunity.  That investment will bring added value to the facility through the inclusion of additional appliances in the apartments to meet basic needs, upgraded flooring in common areas to increase durability and longevity of service and it will also include furnishing and equipment in the common areas in which Eden staff will be working with those tenants in the apartment building that need it.  The additional investment will also pay for play structures located on the property for families with children.

This new building represents the flagship of a new venture in Winnipeg connecting both government involvement, the Eden organization and Concordia.  You are invited to join these partners in providing safe, affordable housing in this new project and in the existing apartments in Winkler and Steinbach.
